Dr. Stephen Seamands, professor of Christian Doctrine at Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, Kentucky, will speak at 7 p.m. Monday, April 12, at historic Boehms Chapel, 13 West Boehms Church Road, Willow Street, PA. The program is free and open to the public.
Dr. Seamands will speak on the topic "Trinity and Ministry", based on his book, Ministry in the Image of God: The Trinitarian Shape of Christian Service. The publication received the 2005 Christianity Today Award of Merit for books in the area of church and pastoral leadership.
Dr. Seamands has particular interest in the areas of emotional healing, spiritual warfare, intercessory prayer and spiritual renewal within the United Methodist Church as well as the greater body of Christ. He actively engages in leading spiritual renewal retreats and seminars in churches across the country.
Dr. Seamands served as pastor of United Methodist churches in southern New Jersey for eleven years prior to joining the faculty of Asbury in 1983. He is the author of several books including Holiness of Heart and Life, A Conversation with Jesus, Wounds that Heal: Bringing Our Hurts to the Cross and Christology and Transition in the Theology of Edwin Lewis.
Dr. Seamands grew up in India where his parents were in missionary service. He earned his B.A. from Asbury College, M. Div. at Asbury Theological Seminary, Th. M. at Princeton Theological Seminary and Ph.D. at Drew University. He and his wife, Carol are the parents of four children and grandparents of eight grandchildren.

Dr. Seamands along with Dr. H. Douglas Buckwalter, professor of New Testament at Evangelical Theological Seminary will be participating in the Wesley Forum: Understanding Spiritual Warfare, Tuesday, April 13 at Dech Memorial Chapel, Evangelical Theological Seminary, Myerstown, PA. Boehms Chapel is sponsoring the event.
